[Invited Talk] Multidimensional signal detection using belief propagation

(in English) Problems to detect multidimensional signals such as spatially-multiplexed signal detection in a MIMO system and equalization of a time-dispersive (frequency-selective) channel can be found generally in wireless communication areas. Recently, there have been many papers on belief propagation applied to such multidimensional signal detection. In belief propagation, reliability of variable nodes in a factor graph expressing the signal detection model is gradually increased through message passing between variable and factor nodes. Such iterative approaches always face to a discussion on convergence and stability. Actually, a convergence in loopy factor graph for MIMO signal detection is not guaranteed. The detection performance varies according to the channel condition, signal sequence, and size of factor graph. In this talk, we describe some application examples on multidimensional signal detection and briefly show several helpers for improvement on convergence and stability.
