We have installed and evaluated the prototype of Wi-SUN-based condition monitoring system which we have developed for railway earth structure aimed at labor saving and higher accuracy. The embedded smart sensors are equipped with mode-switching capabilities by which measurement and/or data transmission frequency can be adaptively changed according to the evaluation result of sensor reading data. In addition, mode switching can be carried out by the external commands from the maintenance center. The result of the test operation in a commercially operated railway line revealed that the data transmission among sensors in a relatively short distance is successful and mode switching mechanism are functioning correctly. This result also shows that it is possible to install Wi-SUN sensor network for railway monitoring system. |
