Experimental Demonstration of Vector-Based Channel-to-Channel Signal Quality Equalization Aimed for SDM/WDM Transmission Application
Hidenori Takahashi, Takehiro Tsuritani (KDDI Research) OCS2017-64
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Multiple signals are transmitted for the long-distance and high capacity systems utilizing space/wavelength-division multiplexing (SDM/WDM) technologies. However, the worst channel quality limits the performance of the SDM/WDM transmission system, such as reachable distance, etc. Therefore, it is required to improve the quality of worst channel using the other high-quality channels. In this paper, the signal quality equalization in vector domain is demonstrated to mitigate the channel-to-channel Q-difference experimentally. Two optical signals are combined and separated using transfer function. It is confirmed that the method can equalize signal quality less than 0.1 dB difference and it can also improve the low-quality channel.
