In the past, we have proposed an autonomous control architecture between a pair of optical transceivers to simplify optical network operation and failure recovery. In the proposed architecture, optical performance monitors based on digital coherent receiver technology and frequency-shift keying supervisory signal (FSK-SV) are adopted as key technologies to communicate between the transceivers and to monitor operational status of the system. We experimentally demonstrate an autonomous and real-time operation of the proposed architecture prototyped with commercially available optical transceivers. |
