Performance Improvement of DOA Estimation of Desired Signals Using Multiple Cyclic Correlations

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The cyclic method performs the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of the desired waves by using cyclic correlations based on the cyclostationarity of digital-modulation signals. However, when DOA estimation is carried out by cyclic method with a finite number of snapshots, interference components remaining in the cyclic correlation matrix of array input may have some deleterious effect on DOA estimation accuracy. Therefore, NS (Noise Subspace) Cyclic ESPRIT incorporating the general eigenvalue decomposition (GEVD) and adaptive spatial smoothing processing (ASSP) was proposed to reduce the influence of residual interference components. In this paper, we introduce multiple cyclic correlations (MCC) into the NS Cyclic ESPRIT and investigate the performance improvement of cyclic method. As a result of computer simulation, it has been demonstrated that DOA estimation performance of the proposed method is significantly improved.
