[Invited Lecture] Introduction of MIMO-Related Techniques and its Implementation in IEEE 802.11ax WLANs

(in English) With the increase in demand of wireless LANs, MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) technique was first adopted in order to improve the transmission rate in IEEE 802.11n standard. Subsequently, MIMO-related techniques such as the increase in number of MIMO streams and multi-user MIMO method have progressed from 802.11n to next-generation standard 802.11ax, which is under development. In this paper, we introduce the progress of MIMO-related techniques in IEEE 802.11 standardizations and our proposed sounding protocol method for Multi-User MIMO that was adopted in the IEEE 802.11ax standardization. In addition, we also describe our recent system LSI development activities of IEEE 802.11ax.
