Comparison of Thermal Response between Rat and Human for Exposure from Dipole Antenna

(in English) In the international guidelines/standards, the specific absorption rate (SAR) averaged over 10 g of tissue is used as a metric for human protection from localized exposure. The limit was defined by extrapolating the threshold obtained in animal experiments to humans. Further evaluation comparing the temperature elevation in animals and human are required for local microwave exposure. In this paper, we calculated the temperature elevation in rats and human head for exposure from dipole antenna using multiphysics computational code considering thermophysiological regulation, and compared maximum temperature elevation and thermal time constant between rat and human.
