We propose a presentation method for figures and graphs, on a tactile display so that visually impaired people can perceive them quickly and accurately. The presentation method is developed for a tactile-proprioceptive display, which can present information on not only conventional tactile display, but also vibration presentation in arbitrary area on a tactile display and mechanical leading presentation by mechanically leading user’s fingers. In this device, user can learn contents of the figure by oneself by means of the touch and the mechanical leading. This time, we developed new remote mechanical leading system which extended the function of the tactile-proprioceptive display. The remote mechanical leading has a function to convey educational contents in a class by guiding the student’s finger in synchronization with movement of a finger that a teacher moved on a figure. This paper shows about outline of the developed system and evaluation experiment of trial lesson. In the experiment that simulated a class of the real acupuncture moxibustion, the effect and availability of this system was subjectively evaluated in comparison with the conventional method for the figure such as oral explanation or tactile graphics. The subjective evaluation result shows that the evaluation values for the remote mechanical leading is higher than the method of the conventional class, and possibility of the application to a new education method has been provided. |
