A Study of Quasi-Millimeter Wave Frontend ICs and Modules

(in English) Application of Massive MIMO and beamforming technology using array antennas in the quasi-millimeter wave band is being studied for high-speed transmission and large capacity in the fifth generation mobile communication system (5 G). In the quasi-millimeter wave band, rectilinear propagation of radio waves is stronger than that of the conventionally used microwave frequency band. It requires the base station with small cover area, and excellent in installability and low cost. In this paper, we studied the configuration of the RF front end of the base station to building walls. We introduce front-end ICs using 0.15 um GaAs pHEMT three-dimensional MMIC aiming at miniaturization and high integration to reduce the number of parts. We also introduce front-end modules including the ICs and band-pass filters.
