Suppression of E-plane Sidelobes using a Slit Layer in a Corporate-feed Waveguide Slot Array Antenna consisting of 2x2-element Radiating Units

(in English) We have suppressed E-plane sidelobe level in the tilted direction between 30-40 deg. in Taylor radiation pattern by using a slit layer in the 70 GHz corporate-feed waveguide slot array antenna consisting of 2x2-element radiating units. We confirm that the sidelobe level can be suppressed by appropriate relative permittivity and thickness of the dielectric and the slit width by analysis of the 2x16 elements. We design the feeding circuit that realizes Taylor radiation pattern in the E-plane and uniform excitation in the H-plane. The full structure of the 16x16 elements with the feeding circuit is analyzed by HFSS. 10.2% bandwidth of VSWR less than 1.5 and 83.9% aperture efficiency at the design frequency are achieved. The sidelobe level of the tilted direction between 30-40 deg. is suppressed to -29.5dB in 71-76GHz.
