Mesh networks, which can be easily constructed by distributing
nodes only, are used as emergency communication networks.
The wireless mesh networks employ a wireless local area network, IEEE 802.11, which uses an unlicensed frequency band.
IEEE 802.11ac supports forward-link (downlink) MU-MIMO and can improve transmission
efficiency.
IEEE 802.11ax, which is under standardization following 802.11ac,
applies reverse-link (uplink) MU-MIMO, and can result in further
improvement of efficiency.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of wireless mesh networks
using MU-MIMO.
We use area transmission efficiency as an evaluation index, where the area transmission
efficiency indicates the number of packets in a unit area, and evaluate
a geometrical data rate considering a carrier sense region and an interfere region.
In addition, the results show the difference in the performances
between forward- and reverse-link MU-MIMO according to the traffic
in the network. |
