A novel mode decomposition method based on the dynamical systems theory, called the dynamic mode decomposition (DMD), has recently attracted a lot of attention. The kernel-based nonlinear extension of the DMD (kernel DMD) will be applicable to wider class of nonlinear systems, however, there is a problem that the performance of the kernel DMD is significantly affected by parameter selection. In the present study, in order to solve this problem, we discuss this problem on the basis of a more general formulation, i.e. kernel expression of conditional probability distribution, and propose a formula for selecting optimal parameters. Furthermore, we show that our formula is also valid for the kernel DMD and facilitates precise mode extraction. |
