As Google introduced the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) into Data Centers and successfully enhanced its network efficiency, SDN has become the spotlight of network development. In order to ensure that SDN-enabled devices could run successfully in a realistic environment, it is important to validate SDN-enabled devices by conformance and interoperability tests. This study develops the test cases based on Open Networking Foundation (ONF) to do the functionality test for the SDN device, and then develops applications as the toolkit. In testing the study focuses on the accuracy of flow table, meter, protocol messages and other important functions. Developing application and using traffic generator to generate traffic to test the behavior between SDN switches and controller and get the report which shows that test cases pass or not. By the test report the SDN-enabled devices can be more compliant with the specification. This study adopts the Ryu Controller as the tool to develop applications for SDN test cases and conducts the experiments on the realistic SDN switches. |
