[Tutorial Lecture] Information Security at Physical Layer Based on Radio Propagation Characteristics

(in English) As a countermeasure for the risk to eavesdrop by intercept a wireless communication, it is usual to apply the cryptographic techniques such as a common key system, which are computationally secure. Physical layer security, however, is recently interested as a different approach, which are information-theoretically secure. This paper gives the outlines concerning the physical layer security techniques such as principal of information-theoretically secure, physical layer security approaches, and study target system of physical layer security. By focusing the physical layer security based on radio propagation, this paper explains the principal of secret key agreement and confidential information transmission, and shows the example of recent studies. This paper also shows the expected attack for these security schemes and the security estimation method.
