Decision of Pulmonary Areas of Thoracic CT Images by use of Anatomical Structures and Pulmonary Textures

(in English) In order to analyze diffuse lung diseases in the thoracic CT images by computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems, it is necessary to decide pulmonary areas in the thoracic CT images. It is possible to extract the normal pulmonary areas from the thoracic CT images by threshold based method. However, in some cases of diffuse lung diseases, it is difficult to extract pulmonary areas by threshold based method.Then, in this article, we tried to decide pulmonary areas by use of texture analysis and machine learning algorithm after deciding rough pulmonary areas by use a ribs and diaphragm. By use of the proposed method, it was possible to decide the sufficient pulmonary areas for analysis of diffuse lung diseases.
