In recent years, to reduce the measurement error raised by coaxial cable, the use of optical fiber and optical electric field sensor has been introduced into the field of measurements of radiation pattern of antennas. As an example, in this study, we investigate the measurement of radiation pattern of small handset antennas using optical electric field sensor. Specifically, we show the results after measuring the 3D radiation patterns of a vertical U-shaped folded dipole antenna (VUFDA) using coaxial cable and optical electric field sensor, and by comparing them quantitatively, we indicate the effectiveness of using optical electric field sensor in the measurement. |
