Topological Characteristic of Japan Photonic Network Model

(in English) Many approaches, such as network design methods and network control methods, are investigated to overcome difficulties appears in the Internet. One important thing to evaluate these methods is to use proper network topologies since the performance of network design/control methods strongly depends on Internet topology and capacity of links. We have developed a new model, called JPN model, of photonic network topology in Japan. JPN model is developed based on the publicly available information of nationwide transportation network. In this paper, we investigated topological characteristics of JPN model. We first compare topologies by applying the complex network analysis, and revealed that topologies of JPN model exhibit fundamentally different characteristics of topologies in USA / Europe: 1) average hop-counts distance is larger, 2) clustering coefficient is lower. After that, we investigate the details of JPN model with the information centrality and flow centrality of nodes. Our results show that nodes around Tokyo are (relatively) densely connected each other, so the information centrality and flow centrality is not high. However, these centralities take high values at nodes at “Aichi” and “Osaka”.
