Reversible data hiding is a technique where hidden data are embedded
in host data such that the consistency of the host is perfectly
preserved and its data are restored during extraction of the hidden
data. In this paper, improvements are proposed for a linear
prediction technique for reversible data hiding of audio
waveforms. The proposed modified error-expansion method is able to
control the sound quality degradation of the stego signal by varying
the expansion factor and the payload size. Combining with embedding
auxiliary data and frame synchronization scheme, the proposed method
achieves perfect recovering and data extraction from arbitrary
selected frame of the stego signal. Evaluation using music pieces
and speech signals was examined in terms of sound quality
degradation of the stego signal and the amount of payload. The
results showed that embedding payload at 1/40 of the data rate of
the host signal achieved quite small quality degradation of the
stego signal. |
