We propose a video-semantic-indexing system using video-clip scores and Gaussian-mixture-model (GMM) supervectors. The goal of semantic indexing is to detect high-level features such as objects, actions, and scenes. In video semantic indexing, an input video clip is usually first split into several shots, and then a high-level feature is independently detected for each shot in the video clip. However, the relationship between shots is not negligible since a high-level feature often re-appers in shots belonging to the same video clip. To effectively capture the re-appearance of a high-level feature, we propose a video-clip score shared among shots in a video clip as a prior score to detect the high-level feature. We introduce the video-clip scores to our semantic indexing system using GMM supervectors of six types of low-level features. Our experimantal evaluation on the TRECVID 2012 Semantic Indexing Task showed that the video-clip scores improved Mean Average Precision from 0.306 to 0.312. |
