Study of Elevation Power Angular Spectrum to Evaluate Performance of 3D Beamforming at Base Station

(in English) 3D beamforming which controls main beam direction of base station (BS) antenna over both the azimuth dimension and elevation dimension is studied. In this paper, we investigated elevation power angular spectrum at base station based on raytracing simulation to evaluate the performance of 3D beamforming. As a result, we clarified average elevation angular spread and elevation angular spread does not depend on the BS antenna height. Moreover, we confirmed when mobile station (MS) exists vicinity of BS in LOS situation, more the BS antenna height decreases, the more elevation angular spread increases. Further, the dispersion of the elevation mean angle is small compare to that of the azimuth case.
