Content-based Switching Network -- An Architecture for Both Small and Large Contents Switching --

(in English) While packet-switching is greatly used in networks which need a fine granularity, circuit-switching paradigms are more successful in dealing with large contents efficiently. It is well-known that their implementations should be separated in order to work properly. The proposal, Content-based Switching Network (CSN), is an attempt to provide an architecture able to switch both small and large contents efficiently, well-balancing global performances. Transferred data being never inspected, CSN also offers a generic architecture for dealing with various protocols. This paper shows how CSN is an evolution of circuit-switching networks allowing intermediate buffering for small contents, and how it solves impairment issues in long routes scenarios.
