Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we propose a selective cooperative relay system with automatic repeat request (ARQ) and then provide a theoretical analysis on the end-to-end nodes error rate performance of the system. In the system under consideration, the source node is assumed to be unable to directly communicate with the destination node. The relay nodes assist to establish a communication link between them. Therefore, the transmission channel from source to destination has two parts: source-relay and relay-destination channel. In the relay-destination channel, a relay selection scheme is employed. Among the relays that received the signal from source correctly, the one whose relay-destination channel has the largest channel gain transmits to the destination. Exploiting the broadcast nature of the wireless channel, a relay with errors in its received signal will probably become error-free after listening to the transmission from the relay without errors. This results in the increase in degree of freedom in relay selection for retransmission by ARQ in relay-destination channel. Thus the relay node selected for retransmission may be different from that selected for initial relay transmission, achieving spatial diversity gain. The theoretical results of the analysis are verified by the simulation results.
