A Study Concerning the Minimization Problem of a Color2Gray Algorithm

(in English) A.A. Gooch et al. have proposed the color removal method considering with the differences of colors called ``Color2Gray.'' In Color2Gray, the output monochrome image is obtained by the minimization of the objective function considering the color differences of pixel pairs, and a conjugate gradient method is employed to solve the optimization problem. However, the property of the optimization problem becomes worse to solve under some parameter settings. In this report, the analytical solution (an approximate solution) of a Color2Gray is given and it promises that the appropriate output monochrome image can be obtained under any parameter settings.
