To support high-capacity optical networks, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) and polarization multiplexing (POLMUX) have been proposed and extensively studied. As an alternative technology, all-optical phase-multiplexing can be implemented based on the phase of optical field, instead of intensity or polarization. In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate a compact and stable all-optical phase-multiplexing scheme to multiplex 2x/3x10-Gb/s DPSK-WDM signals into a 20/30-Gb/s DPSK in NRZ formats, using FWM-based phase-interleaving technology in a piece of Bi-HNLF with only 2-m long. |
