[Technology Exhibit] Optimal Viewing Area Estimation Method of Video Contents for Mobile Device -- By using Viewer’s Operation Logs --

(in English) In the case of watching high resolution video content with relatively
low resolution display, the optimal cropping area exist that maximize
the subjective quality. We have already pointed out that there is a
relationship between the optimal cropping area and the viewers' cropping
operation logs. The logs are obtained from the user interface which
allows viewers to achieving their preference.
This paper proposes an estimation method for the optimal cropping area
based on ACM(Active Contour Model)\cite{snake}. In this method, ACM
converges by using the logs as the histograms which represent number of
viewers at each pixel in each frame. Experimental result shows the
proposed method improves the subjective quality than the video by the
simple down sampling.
