Power Consumption Balancing Scheme Considering the Maximum Number of Sensors Connected to Relay Nodes in Sensor Networks
Nobuyuki Hagiya, Shiro Sakata (Chiba Univ.), Kentaro Yanagihara, Shigeru Fukunaga (Oki Electric Industry) USN2007-57
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In sensor networks, network life is limited due mainly to the battery power consumption of nodes neighboring sink node caused by heavy traffic imposed on these nodes. This shows the importance of load balancing of nodes leading to battery power consumption balancing for prolonging network life. This article proposes a novel scheme achieving power consumption balancing through deciding the appropriate maximum number of sensors connected to relaying nodes. The total power consumption in the network is also evaluated by simulation under various network conditions showing the effectiveness of the propose scheme.
