これまで電子情報通信学会で数多くの役職を務めてきました。中でも会誌、論文誌、データベースなどの出版編集では、それらの内容向上に努めるとともに、さまざまな課題に取り組んできました。電子化により出版物の環境は大きく変わり、その変化の勢いは増すばかりです。このような状況における学会の強みは、学会自体が活動を行い、その成果として会誌、論文誌、技術研究報告などの出版物を刊行していることです。この強みを最大限に有効に機能させ、編集の立場から学会を一層魅力あるものにしていきたいと考えています。

［プロフィール］

1974年東京大学卒業。1979年同大学院博士課程修了。工学博士。東京大学講師・助教授を経て、1996年早稲田大学教授。総務省情報通信審議会専門委員、日本ITU協会出版編集委員会委員長、スウェーデン・ルンド大学客員教授、国立情報学研究所客員教授、日本銀行客員研究員等を歴任。本会関係では、編集長、編集理事、通信ソサイエティ和文論文誌編集委員長、通信ソサイエティ会長、ネットワークシステム研究専門委員会委員長、テレコミュニケーションマネジメント研究専門委員会委員長等を歴任。論文賞、業績賞、功績賞等受賞。フェロー、名誉員。

［Statement］

I have experienced various positions in IEICE. Especially, in the field of publication such as journals, transactions, databases, etc., I made efforts to improve the content, and solved many issues. Electronic publishing changes the environment of publication, and the change is becoming more violent. However, IEICE has an advantage. IEICE has its own activities, and publishes the journals, the transactions, the technical reports, etc., as the results of its activities. I intend to make this advantage stronger, and to make IEICE more attractive.

［Biography］

Yoshiaki Tanaka received B.E., M.E., and D.E. degrees from the University of Tokyo, in 1974, 1976, and 1979, respectively. He became a staff at Department of Electrical Engineering, the University of Tokyo, in 1979. He is presently a professor at Department of Communications and Computer Engineering, Waseda University. He was a guest professor at Lund University, Sweden and a visiting professor at National Institute of Informatics. He was also a visiting researcher at Institute for Posts and Telecommunications Policy and at Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, Bank of Japan. As his activities in IEICE, he has been a director of Publications, a director of Editorial and Publishing Affairs, an editor-in-chief of Transactions on Communications, a president of Communications Society, a chairman of Technical Committee on Network Systems, a chairman of Technical Committee on Telecommunication Management, etc. He received the Best Paper Award, the Achievement Award, the Distinguished Achievement and Contributions Award, etc. He is a fellow and an honorary member.
