[Statement]
As is known, IEICE will greet its 100th anniversary this year. Over the past 100 years, the electronics, information, and communication technologies made remarkable advancements, and brought about tremendous changes in our daily life, industry, and society. Not only in the past, but they are about to cause another revolutionary change such as automatic driving and internet of things. The changes in the life style, industrial framework, and social structures accompany not only benefits but also pains. IEICE, as the main academic society of information and communication technologies, should take the social responsibility to pull out the positive aspect and to minimize the negative aspect of the changes. Needless to say, it should contribute to the progress of science and technology as it has been the case but it also needs to become a reliable advisor to the society for how to handle the new information and communication technologies with a large impact. I would like to join the activities of building a new framework of IEICE in its second century together with members and directors.
