[Statement] Electronics, information and communication technologies in Japan, which started by learning from Europe and the United States, have grown to world-leading ones by tremendous efforts of senior members in IEICE over 100 years. Plenty of established outcomes have created the largest-scale industry in Japan and have been dramatically changing people's lifestyles and modern societies by providing innovative value. We cannot completely imagine what changes will be made by technology evolution for the next 100 years. However, it is necessary that each member’s effort through IEICE solve more social issues and take a lead in creating prosperous country toward the future. Social issues are complex ones bridging over diversified fields. To address such critical issues, I aim to foster IEICE, in which not only experts on electronics, information and communication technologies but also unique members with different backgrounds leveraging them get together from industry and academia and encourage their own activities each other. I believe such society activities will lead to strengthen industrial competitiveness of Japan. Today, I realize the fact that the number of enterprise members in IEICE is significantly decreasing. The 100th anniversary of IEICE could be a historic opportunity for us to revitalize it. So, in addition to continuous efforts to enhance academic value of IEICE, I would like to try to actively take actions along with great support from all IEICE members by offering attractive and effective measures especially for corporations and enterprise members, creating opportunities where prospective student members perform brilliantly, and so on.
