Special Issue on
Knowledge-Based Software Engineering
The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) Transactions on Information and Systems
announces a forthcoming special issue on "Knowledge-Based Software Engineering" to be published in April 2004. The objective of
this Special Issue is to publish and overview recent progress in the interdisciplinary area of Artificial Intelligence and Software
Engineering. This issue will include papers based on the presentation at Joint Conference on Knowledge-Based Software
Engineering 2002 and papers applied for this call for papers. All submitted papers are subjected to the same review process as those
papers accepted for publication in the regular issues.
- Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:
- Architecture of knowledge, software and information systems including collaborative, distributed, multi-agent and
multimedia systems, internet and intranet,
- Requirements engineering, domain analysis and modeling, formal and semiformal specifications,
- Knowledge engineering for domain modeling, system family engineering, and software product lines,
- Intelligent user interfaces and human-machine interaction,
- Knowledge acquisition and discovery, data mining,
- Automating software design and synthesis,
- Object-oriented and other programming paradigms, metaprogramming,
- Reuse, re-engineering, reverse engineering,
- Knowledge-based methods and tools for software engineering, including testing, verification and validation, process
management, maintenance and evolution, CASE,
- Decision support methods for software engineering,
- Applied semiotics for knowledge-based software engineering,
- Knowledge systems methodology, development tools and environments,
- Practical applications and experience of software and knowledge engineering,
- Information technology in control, design, production, logistics and management,
- Enterprise modeling, workflow,
- Knowledge management for business process,
- Intelligent agents for software engineering,
- Program understanding, programming knowledge, learning of programming, modeling programs and programmers,
- Knowledge-based methods and tools for software engineering education,
- Knowledge bases and software engineering for information society
- Software engineering and knowledge engineering education, distance learning.
- Guideline for paper submission:
- In preparing the manuscript, authors should be subjected to the Information for Authors on IEICE Transactions, which
describes the standard format of papers. Information for Authors is available through anonymous ftp service
(ftp.ieice.or.jp) and WWW service (http://www.ieice.or.jp/ or ftp://ftp.ieice.or.jp/pub/info-authors/eibunsi/info.txt).
- Please prepare a manuscript as a pdf file or a MS-WORD file (up to WORD 2000). Please write the E-mail address of the
representative author on the cover page of the manuscript. The editorial committee will send a receipt notification to the
representative author via E-mail within four days after submitting the manuscript.
- Authors should submit the electronic manuscript by June 30, 2003 to the following address:
Atsuo Hazeyama,
Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Tokyo Gakugei University,
4-1-1, Nukuikita-machi, Koganei-shi, Tokyo 184-8501 Japan
TEL: +81-42-329-7465
E-mail: kbse2004 (at) cmail.cs.shinshu-u.ac.jp
- It is recommended that the paper does not exceed 8 printed pages. If it exceeds this limit, extra fee will be charged.
- All authors, including authors of invited papers, are requested to pay for the page charges that cover a part of the
publication cost. The page charges help cover the substantial cost of editing and publishing the IEICE Transactions. Peer
review of your manuscript is provided as a service. Authors are entitled to 100 free reprints of their published articles.
- Please be advised that in the case that a large number of papers are accepted for publications, a portion of these papers
may be published in another issue of the journal.
