Regulations of the Information and Systems Society Fellow Recommendation Committee

(Purpose)

Article 1 The purpose of the Information and Systems Society Fellow Recommendation Committee (hereinafter referred to as gThe Committeeh) is to review Fellow recommendations based on Fellow Recommendation Forms submitted to the Information and Systems Society (hereinafter referred to as the gSocietyh), and to recommend Fellow candidates to the IEICE Fellow Nomination Committee under the Board of Directors of the IEICE. These Regulations stipulate activities needed to handle matters specified in Article 3 of the Fellow Recommendation Regulations of the IEICE.



(Organization)

Article 2 The Committee shall have one Chair.
2. The Chair shall be the President-Elect of the Society.
3. Other members of The Committee shall consist of the following:
(1) One Secretary,
(2) Eight to thirteen Committee Members.
4. The Secretary shall be selected by the Chair from among the members of the Society Board of Directors.
5. Committee Members shall be selected by the Chair from the President of the Society and from among existing Fellows.
6. A maximum of three Committee Members shall be selected from among the Committee Members of the previous year. These Members shall be recommended by the Chair of the previous year and appointed by the Chair of the current year.
7. A balance between industry and academia shall be taken into consideration in deciding the composition of the Committee Members.



(Functions)

Article 3 The Chair shall supervise the activities of The Committee.
2. The Secretary shall assist the Chair in the operation of The Committee.



(Appointment and term of office)

Article 4 The Secretary and Committee Members shall be appointed by the Chair.
2. The term of office of the members of The Committee shall be one year. They may be appointed for a maximum of successive two terms.



(Activities)

Article 5 The Committee shall undertake the following activities to fulfill its purpose:
(1) Examine whether a candidate recommended by a Society member (hereinafter referred to as a gFellow Candidateh) satisfies the required qualifications.
(2) Examine whether the nominators and references of a Fellow Candidate satisfy the requirements defined in Article 5 of the Fellow Recommendation Regulations of the IEICE.
(3) Consider whether a Fellow Candidate is a person appropriate for the Fellow Grade.
(4) Select Fellow Candidates to be recommended, and send the recommendations to the Fellow Nomination Committee.
(5) Ensure that the names of the Fellow Candidates are not disclosed until their Fellowship has been approved by the Board of Directors of the IEICE.



(Recommendation procedure)

Article 6 The procedure for performing the activities defined in Article 5 of these Regulations shall be as follows:
(1) A Society member submits a Fellow Recommendation Form and Reference Sheets (using the specified forms) to the Society by January 31.
(2) The final number of Fellow Candidates selected after a review and adjustment shall be such that the sum of the number of the Fellow Candidates selected and the number of existing Fellows does not exceed two percent of the number of the Society members.
(3) The selection result shall be listed in a Recommended Fellow Candidate List (using the specified form) accompanied by copies of the respective Fellow Recommendation Forms and Reference Sheets and submitted to the Fellow Nomination Committee by May 15.



(Additional provision)

These Regulations came into effect on October 2, 2000.
Amendments to these Regulations came into effect on May 21, 2001.
Amendments to these Regulations came into effect on May 27, 2006.
Amendments to these Regulations came into effect on Sept 5, 2006.
Amendments to these Regulations came into effect on Dec 2, 2008.
