Special Section on Recent Development of Electromechanical Devices

(Selected Papers from ICEC2006)

The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) Transactions on Electronics announces a forthcoming special section on “Recent Development of Electromechanical Devices (Selected Papers from ICEC2006)” to be published in July, 2007.

The electromechanical devices are one of key devices that support development of systems applied in many fields including information, communication and environment engineering fields which are strategic ones in Japan.  They have made progress in terms on downsizing, high-density packaging and high performance devices on the bases of high reliability and high safety.  Moreover, they have recently been researched and developed also from the points of view on energy-saving, environmental preservation and creation of new validity by application of new materials such as nano-materials.  The results of research and development activities relating to the electromechanical devices were presented at ICEC2006 (The 23rd International Conference on Electrical Contacts) held at Sendai this June.

In this special section, papers will be selected mainly from ones presented at ICEC2006, but other papers are also available properly.  It would be most grateful if many papers are contributed for significant activation and timely dissemination of the results of research and development in these fields.

Possible topics of interests include, but are not limited to:

-Electromechanical and connection devices/materials (switches, relays, connectors, micro-motors, optical devices, automotive components, micro-/nano-devices and their materials)

-Contact phenomena (contact resistance, arc discharge, sliding, welding, broadband signal transmission, electromagnetic compatibility)

-Applications (communication, power systems, sensors, instrumentation)

      -Evaluation (modeling, simulation)

Prospective authors are requested to send four copies of manuscript before October 23, 2006 October 31, 2006 to

       Dr. Makoto Hasegawa
