| 抄録（英） | This paper distinguishes between communication and telecommunication and systematically describes basic issues related to quality of service. For example, it discusses the qualities of communication, the modeling of communication services, the definition of their qualities, and the kinds of network services available and how they relate to the qualities. Person-to-person and person-to-machine communications are defined using a hierarchical model composed of an information layer, an environmental layer, and a telecommunication layer. The latest topics, such as best-effort service and quality of service in ATM networks, are also discussed. |
