To implement a man-machine interface in a non-contact way,the system consisting of a TV monitor and two CCD cameras attached to it is proposed. This manuscript describes the algorithm to estimate the motion of the user's hand from the sequence of stereo images obtained by this interface.First, the image region of the user is segmented from the background.Next, the region of the user's hand is extracted by using the disparity between stereo images and the depth values.By tracking this region in the image sequence, the parameters of three-dimensional motion of the hand is estimated. The simulation using the actual images has shown that the region of the user's hand is segmented and traced with enough accuracy by this algorithm. |
