In this paper,the status quo of multimedia in the broadcasting field and the computer field are outlined.The multimedia application examples reported by several organizations are described together with consideration to the technologies which support them.From now on,the key technologies of multimedia,such as MPU,OS,LAN,displays,memories,and image compression technologies,will substantially grow.It is expected that the multimedia produced by the fusion of audio visual equipment and computers,or by the fusion of broadcasting and communication,will provide interactive environments,release people from any restrictions,fully encourage their creativity,and become the mass media in the next generation. |
