In this paper, we present a performance analysis for SVC (Switched Virtual Channel) system in the next generation communication networks. The system is built based on the SVC operating mechanisms and is modelled by a Geo/G/1/K queue model with Setup/Close-Delay/Close-Down and finite capacity. By using the approach of an embedded Markovian chain\r\nand supplementary variables, we analyze this system model, and\r\nderive the analytical formula of probability distribution for the\r\nsteady queue length and the P.G.F (Probability Generation\r\nFunction) of waiting time of packets. Correspondingly, we get SVC performance evaluation measures of response time, blocking probability and\r\nsystem throughput. Moreover, the dependency relationships between\r\nthese measures and the time length of a Close-Delay timer is analyzed. \r\nThe analyses presented in this paper can provide theoretic bases for network design, network maintenance and network management. |
