Since April 1999, we have been publishing Japanese and English papers online. Until now, these papers have been made available at no charge, in order to promote circulation. Now that the Institute is better known and the number of submissions is rising, we are planning to move to a fee-based subscription, as originally envisioned.

We will be implementing the transition in stages, in order to avoid an abrupt shift to a fee-based subscription, and to minimize the risk of losing subscribers. First, we will require registration (obtaining a User ID and password), in order to view complete documents. In other words, we will permit non-members to view documents as long as they are registered as subscribers. During the transition period, we will be encouraging non-member subscribers to join the Institute.

Therefore, from June 1, 2004, non-subscribing members of the public will still be able to view titles, authors, and abstracts. However, viewing complete documents will require registration (a User ID and password).Even Institute members will need to register.

Member Access Procedure

1. Registering Your User ID, Password, and Contact E-mail Address

Establish your password and contact e-mail address using the User ID and temporary password you received with your membership card in April.
Please note that the temporary password is for setting your subscription password only, and not for viewing documents. You will receive notification at your contact e-mail address when registration is confirmed.

2. The ID Required to Use Our Service

Both your User ID and your registered e-mail address are valid for accessing the service. Please use whichever you prefer.


3. Changing Your Password and Contact E-mail Address

You may change your password and contact e-mail address. You will need your User ID to change them, so please have your membership card at hand. Confirmation will be sent to your contact e-mail address when the changes have been made.

Member E-mail Forwarding Service

When you obtain an e-mail account with the IEICE (domain name: @m.ieice.org), you can use our forwarding service. The mail delivered to your IEICE address will be virus- checked, and forwarded to addresses that you specify. You may specify up to two such addresses.

4. Retrieving a Lost Password

You may recover your forgotten password by contacting us. You will need your User ID and contact e-mail address. The password will be sent to your contact e-mail address.

5. Our Privacy Policy

We will use information about members only for the purpose of confirming subscriptions, and for correspondence between the IEICE and members. We will never provide an outside entity with any information about members.
