Membership for Overseas Candidates: IEICE has mainly two grades of membership: Member and Student Member. Member is mainly for people who are not students. Student Member is mainly for students. Please be noticed that Overseas Membership applies only to candidates who reside outside of Japan and who have non-Japanese citizenship.

You can join one of the IEICE Societies and subscribe to English Transaction of the registered Society as an Overseas Member, without voting right at the Institute's election. Still more, you can receive Journal and Japanese Transactions by paying an additional charge. Similar affordable services are available for overseas Student members.

OMDP (Overseas Membership Development Program) is provided for candidates from countries/areas in Asia(except Republic of Korea and Taiwan), Africa, Central America, and South America. This program is designed so that IEICE can contribute to and support the progress of science and technology throughout the world. Scientists and engineers in these countries/areas are encouraged to apply to the program.

NOTE: Because of the recent rapid economic development of Republic of Korea and Taiwan, applications from members of these countries for the IEICE Overseas Membership Development Program(OMDP) will not be accepted from April 2005.

Notice of IEICE Membership Charges: According to the decision of the Board of Directors, the term of payment of a membership fee will be changed from the fiscal year 2006. The membership fee for Members and Student members shall be paid before the next fiscal year in advance.
In this connection, the payment of your membership fee when you join IEICE has been changed from November 2nd, 2006.

When you send your application form during February 2nd - August 1st, please refer "Membership Charges 1", and when you send your application form August 2nd - February 1st, please refer "Membership Charges 2".

1. You need to choose one Society, and you can subscribe Transactions online of your registered society.
(You can subscribe Transactions in Japanese and in English of web version.)
Example: If you want to subscribe to Transaction of EA, please check Society Registration as "A", and your membership fee amounts to 7,000 yen / 5,000 yen.
2. If you want to register other Societies and Transaction of web version, please check "Additional Society registration".
Example: If you want to subscribe to Transaction of EA and EB, please check Society Registration as "A", Additional Society registration (optional) as "B". Your membership fee amounts to 7,000+3,500 yen / 5,000+3,000 yen.
3. If you want to subscribe to one Transaction of paper version,, please check "Additional Transaction subscription (in paper version)".
Example: If you want to subscribe to Transaction of EC in paper version additionally, please check Society Registration as "A", and Additional Transaction subscription (in paper version) as "C" or as "EC". Your membership fee amounts to 7,000+4,000 yen / 5,000+4,500 yen.
4. If you want to change membership from Member (In Japan) to Overseas Member, you don't need to pay an Entrance charge.
5. We close an application form and a credit card form in 1st in every month.
6. The month and year of your joining IEICE is as follows,
a. When you submit your application form during March 2nd to August 1st, you can choose your entrance from April or October of this year.
b. When you submit your application form during August 2nd to September 1st, you can choose your entrance from October of this year.
c. When you submit your application form during September 2nd to February 1st, you can choose your entrance from October of this year or April of the next year.
d. When you submit your application form during February 2nd to March 1st, you can choose your entrance from April.

7. We can't send back issue of IEICE Transactions. If you need, please contact us.
Optional Rapid Mailing Service: Surface mail charge is included in the membership/publication charge. Optional rapid mailing service is available by air mail or surface air lifted (SAL) mail. The additional charge per year periodical depends on the mailing address, as shown in the following table.

About a procedure of your joining: Please send your application form and a credit card form. You can send them by FAX/E-mail/Air mail. Air mail is better for us. We close an application form and credit card form in 1st in every month.
Example 1: We received your application form and credit card form in August 1.
The IEICE Board of Directors approved your joining IEICE

-You will receive your membership card at the beginning of September.
-You will get Transactions from September.



Example 2: We received your application form and credit card form in August 2.
The IEICE Board of Directors approved your joining IEICE

-You will receive your membership card at the beginning of October.

-You will get Transactions from October.
