In 2011, the IEICE Korea Section (Electronics) organized a joint seminar on "An Innovative Method in Engineering Education", which was held on December 9 at Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, Korea. The joint seminar was co-sponsored by IEICE Korea Section, IEEK, KOFST, and Engineering Education Innovation Center of KNU. Professor Mitsunori Makino (Chuo University, Japan) was invited to give a talk on "Rubric-based Competency Development in Engineering Education". Professor Jinyoung Moon from KNU introduced an innovative method in major-oriented capstone design in the freshman design class. 5 other KNU Professors also gave a talk in the field of engineering education. At the end of the joint seminar, Professor Duk-Gyoo Kim from KNU introduced the IEICE and its Korea Section. More than 50 peoples including professors and graduate students attended the joint seminar.
