Area : Korea, Communication Representative :Prof. Chul-Hee Kang(Korea Univ.)

My name is Chul-Hee Kang, professor of Korea University. My current research object is focused especially on the network and transport protocols in Next-Generation networks.
I am delighted to hear the 3 Representatives of IEICE Korea section in Korea has been newly established and I feel great honor to be appointed as the area representative of communication section this year.

Up to now Korea plays an important role at a high rate on the whole IEICE English transaction on the sphere of communication (39.9% and 35.3% in year 2002 and 2003 respectively). Moreover, I will persevere in my best efforts to continuously render great services to information and communications technology for the prosperous future, and to act as a bridge to cultivate people of talents related to the communication fields.
I think these activities will not only strengthen the networking of IEICE Korea and Oversea Representatives, but also expand IEICE membership and activities in the future.

Event to be promoted in 2005

-	IEICE awareness programs
-	Establish the mailing list of all the IEICE members in Korea including the foreign members who are living in Korea now
-	Co-sponsor selected domestic conferences and symposia which will be held in Korea to further promote IEICE membership campaign
-	Organize workshops or distinguished lectures focused on the latest technology or the fast growing fields once or twice a year

I look forward to your continuous interest and support, so that the Representative in Korea can produce tangible results to become a truly global research room for an advanced communication technology field.
