Section: Beijing Representative: Prof.Tao Zhang (Tsinghua University)



On Oct. 7, 2011, Prof. T. Aoki, a professor of Saga University of Japan, vice director of the Center for Regional Culture and History of Saga University, and Prof. K. Sato, an Associate professor of the University of Electro-Communications were invited to visit Tsinghua University, Beijing. At the same day, they were delivering lectures to IEICE members and young students from Tsinghua University and other universities. There were more than 30 attendants all together. Prof. Tao Zhang first spent a few minutes making introduction of the IEICE organization to the audience. He encouraged the attendants to apply for the membership of IEICE. Prof. Zhang then introduced Prof. Aoki and Prof. Sato to audience. The speech given by Prof. Aoki was on his long-term research experience on the medical history, western history, Japan history, and so on. The speech given by Prof. Sato was on his long-term research experience on Japan Science and Technology history, modern Japan mathematics history, etc. These contents are very important to create the collaboration between China and Japan in the near future. Many attendants were very interested in the report.

On Mar. 5, 2012, Prof. Ryuji Kohno of Yokohama National University (YNU), and Prof. Tomio Inoue of Yokohama City University (YCU) were invited to visit Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing. They delivered lectures to IEICE members and young students from BUPT, Tsinghua University and other universities. There were more than 30 attendants all together. Prof. Yongmei Sun chaired the meeting. Firstly, Prof. Tao Zhang introduced IEICE organization and encouraged the attendants to apply for the membership of IEICE. Then, Prof. Kohno gave a speech titled “Ubiquitous Medical Healthcare Based on Advanced ICT”, which covered his long-term research experience on Medical ICT.  The speech given by Prof. Inoue was “Introduction of Global Center of Excellent (GCOE) program in Yokohama City University and Expectation for MICT in Radiology”. These contents are very important to create the collaboration between China and Japan in the near future. Many attendants showed significant interest to the speeches. After the lecture meeting, Prof. Kohno and Inoue visited State Key Laboratory of Information Photonics and Optical Communications in BUPT and Tsinghua National Laboratory for Information Science and Technology, and discussed with teachers and students.

In addition, a few people were nominated to join IEICE overseas members.
